The new park features such things as wind turbines, water efficient landscaping, shade structures, a food court, restrooms, showers and an irrigation system. One of the most outstanding features is the interactive fountain which includes a shallow pool with small waves and spouts that spray water in continually changing patterns. Children and adults are welcome to cool off in the water. The fountain also features LED lighting, for a truly spectacular display at night.
The $15 million park was approved by voters as part of the 2004 bond election, with the purpose of creating a large green area next to the seawall with improved pedestrian use areas and space for concerts, festivals and other events.
