The museum houses a selection of 16th to 19th century paintings, a group of exquisite Japanese prints, selections of Modern Art, including examples of Abstract Expressionism and Op-Art, as well as a taste of art collected from regional artists from the Rio Grande Valley and Northern Tamaulipas, Mexico.
There is a an area called Rioscape, the Valley's only interactive science playground, where students learn about water, energy, sound waves and more.
The museum is open to the public Tue, Wed, Fri, and Sat 9 am to 5 pm, Thu 9 am to 8 pm, Sun 1 pm to 5 pm. Admission Adults: $7, Seniors (55+): $5, Students W/ID: $5, Children (4-12 yrs.): $4, Children (0-3 yrs.): Free. Reduced fees on Sunday
