Scientific Name: Mugil cephalus
Common Name: Mullet, Horse Mullet, Pony Mullet, Finger Mullet, Tourist Trout
 
Description: Adults grow to a length of 9 to 19.5 inches. Immature mullet are 3 to 8 inches (Finger Mullet) long. Distinguishing characteristics include an irregularly round, silvery body, dark bluish green back and dark longitudinal stripes on the sides and a small mouth. Although eaten in some parts of the world Mullet are not considered good table fare. Mullet are an excellent bait for most game fish. Take limits: May not take from public waters, or possess on board a boat mullet over 12 inches during October, November, December and January. No limits apply during other months.
