From Padre Balli Park to the Padre Island National Seashore, there are almost 8 miles of Gulf beach on Padre Island. At the southern end of this section of beach, at Access Rd 7, vehicle traffic is blocked by barricades that mark the begginning of Malaquite Beach.

The section north of the Nueces county line requires a county parking permit, but south of the county line, parking is free.
