The free ferry ride is an enjoyable experience even for long time residents. The ferrys cross the Corpus Christi Ship Channel to connect Port Aransas with the mainland. You may see large ships moving in and out of the Port of Corpus Christi and it is a good bet that you will see dolphins during the crossing.
The ferries operate 24-hours a day, 365 days a year on an "as needed" basis. Typically, a ferry will depart from each terminal every 10-20 minutes.
There are six ferrys but only two or three are usually in use at a time. The vessels carry twenty regular passenger vehicles on each trip. During the summer months and especially during Spring Break, the line to board the ferrys can become very long.
