The Fennessey Ranch is part of a legendary 750,000 acre Texas land empire that has remained in the same family for 171 years. The ranch consists of 4,000 acres of abundant wetlands, meadows, natural lakes, riparian woods and brush land and bordered on three sides by the Mission River. The Fennessey is located in the heart of the Central Flyway along a region of the Texas coastline known as the "Coastal Bend." The area around Rockport Texas is truly a paradise for birders. Hundreds of species call the area home year-round and many more migratory birds can be seen here from October through March. Rockport was also home to Connie Hagar, a legend amongst Texas birders. Connie moved to Rockport in 1935 and became a self-taught expert on Texas birds. The Rockport area includes a number of sites that are on the La Bahia Loop and the Aransas Loop of the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail including the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, home to the famous whooping cranes. So grab your birding gear and head on down to Rockport Texas!
