Description: Segmented body encased in shell, the head segment has walking legs and antennae, the tail section has six abdominal segments. Adults spawn in the Gulf and postlarvae drift or migrate to shallow bays, tidal creeks and marshes. Subadults then migrate back to the Gulf until maturation. Shrimp are generally short lived, typically 1 - 2 years. Shrimp are excellent table fare as well as bait.
