South Bay is a very shallow bay south of Port Isabel. The western side of the bay contains many oyster reefs. This area is good for trout and redfish from March through November. Sometimes snook can be found in this area. South Bay can be reached by taking State Highway 4 out of Brownsville and then driving north up the beach. This area is good for wade fishing. Wade fishing can be very rewarding but can also can be dangerous for the inexperienced angler. Watch out for holes, drop-offs, soft bottoms, oyster shells and stingrays.
