Tens of thousands (at times perhaps hundreds of thousands) of Broad-winged Hawks, Swainson's Hawks, Mississippi Kites, and accipiters pass along the Nueces River and through the park each year. Check out the new hawk watch pavillion. This 77. 6 acre park also offers picnic facilities, swimming, fishing, jogging, biking and a nature trail. But the main draw is the excellent birdwatching. The park boasts the largest concentration of migrating raptors in the United States. From mid August to mid November, 100,000's of hawks fly over the Corpus Christi Hawk Watch site at the park in monster flights called kettles.
