Burr Albert Harrison (1808-1881) moved to Wharton County in 1859 and established one of the largest plantations in the area. A Civil War veteran, Harrison built this house during the 1860s. In 1864 he married Mary Rebecca Bolling and they had 7 children. The home, which exhibits a dogtrot plan and late Victorian porch details, has remained in the family for more than 100 years and is a reminder of Wharton County's early plantation system.
