Held during the spectacular spring bird migration in Texas, teams vie to see who can spot and record the most bird species in a given time period. During this weeklong event, birders from around the globe converge on the Texas coast for fun and friendly team birding. The tournament is held all up and down the Texas Coast but the awards ceremony will be at Omni Hotel in Corpus Christi.
Due to the tournament's phenomenal growth, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department had the opportunity to partner with the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory (GCBO) in 2005 to make the Birding Classic even better.
