Held annually the first weekend in June, Yoakum's Tom Tom Festival is piece of history wrapped in some good 'ol Texas fun!
The Tom Tom festival originated to honor Yoakum's tomato industry, which was predominant in the area in the late 20s - early 30s. This Festival is one of the oldest in the region due to the "down home" style of fun, found only in South Texas. With a craft show, live music, barbeque cook-off, parade, rodeo and a whole lot more, this festival draws thousands each year. . . and for good reason!
The week starts with Royalty Pageants. On Friday night, there is a "fun" Tomato King and Queen Contest. On Saturday morning, the Grand Parade is held in downtown Yoakum. Call (361) 293-2309 for more information.
